Celebrity Cruise Lines pride themselves with one of the
most elegant cruise fleets afloat. From the contemporary stylings of
"Horizon" and "Zenith" to the high-tech comfort of "Century", "Galaxy", and

"Infinity", "Summit" and "Constellation", Celebrity Cruise Lines treats

In 1989, Celebrity Cruises was founded by the Chandris Group as an upscale
line and has held true to its original commitment of providing elegant
cruising and continually updating to reflect the current lifestyle.
Celebrity's plan was to establish a new level of premium travel. They
identified potential guests as well informed vacationers who see quality and
value as essential choice criteria. For this special level of luxury, the
cruise line knew that it would have to keep reasonably priced.
Celebrity custom deigned and built their kitchens to produce the finest
gourmet cuisine that would be created from scratch with the freshest
ingredients. The cruise line established and still maintains a relationship
with master chef and culinary consultant Michel Roux. His contribution in
culinary design and training of the fleet's executive restaurant staff has
established Celebrity as having outstanding shipboard cuisine.
In 1995, Celebrity Cruise Lines created a new type of fleetwide spa program
to offer cruise guests a unique vacation choice aboard their
cruise ships.
In 1997, Celebrity Cruises merged with Royal Caribbean International,
bringing the two brands under one corporate name - Royal Caribbean Cruises
Ltd. The company has more than 20 custom designed cruise ships with several
additional ships being built or on firm order. Together, the two brands sail
most areas of the globe.
In 2001, Royal Celebrity Tours was launched. Using the strengths of both
Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean International cruise lines, this new
company provides a seamless vacation experience through integrated land-sea
packages.
In 2003, Celebrity Cruises added a new category of accommodation to the
cruise line. The "Concierge Class" offers plush staterooms and an elevated
level of service. Because of the high demand for this category, the cruise
line plans to double the number of this accommodation unit aboard the
Constellation, Infinity, Millennium, and Summit cruise ships offering more
romantic getaways opportunities. This
category offers a number of special "perks" including of course concierge
service, priority luggage delivery, dining time and seating preferences, VIP
invitations to exclusive shipboard events and early embarkation and
debarkation privileges.
In 2004, Celebrity Cruises introduced a proprietary line of wines to
complement the cruise line's award winning cuisine. The "Celebrity Cruises
Cellarmaster Selection" has been created to the cruise line's exacting
standards. The first two selections - a 2002 Russian River Valley Chardonnay
and a 2001 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon - were to be available onboard
every cruise ship in October 2004.
Celebrity Cruises took top honors for the premium cruise line category at
the coveted annual "Conde' Nast Traveler" Readers' Choice awards. Results to
be published in November of 2004 ranked Celebrity third - behind the luxury
lines Crystal Cruises and Radisson Seven Seas - in the "Top 25 Cruise Lines
: Large Ship" poll. Celebrity Cruises was up three points from the previous
year and has increased its total score every year since 2001.
As we mentioned at the beginning, Celebrity Cruises strives to be the cruise
line innovator. We have described a few instances above. They have also
introduced "Celebrity Xpeditions" for exotic itineraries and
once-in-a-lifetime excursions. The cruise line has also entered into an
exclusive agreement with the exciting "Cirque du Soleil" to sponsor touring
shows in North America and Europe.
