Cruise Lines and their fabulous cruise ships!
There are so many cruise lines in the world today that I'm not sure that
I would ever be able to research all of them. Some of these cruise lines
have only on small cruise ship while others have many ships of varying
sizes. I will identify only a few here and not in any particular order.
We will start with some of the better known cruise ship lines. The
information here is as researched at the time of printing this article.
Carnival Cruise lines have those magnificent cruise ships dubbed "the fun
ships". Carnival have 22 ships traveling a number of different itineraries
offering appeal to a wide range of lifestyles and budgets.
Princess Cruises operated the cruise ship used in the T.V. series "The Love
Boat". This cruise line operates 14 cruise ships in 3 classes seating from
670 to over 2600. The first episode of the series was shot aboard the
original "Sun Princess" in 1977 and dramatically increased the cruise
vacation popularity.
Royal Caribbean operates a fleet of 19 cruise ships. This cruise line offers
activities like rock climbing and ice skating and many activities in
between! They too have a unique smaller ship for a more intimate cruise
experience. Royal Caribbean offer many cruise destinations including
Alaska, Europe and of course the
Caribbean!
Holland America cruise lines have a fleet of 13 majestic ships. For more
than 130 years, they have pampered their guests with five star qualities
while visiting more than 280 ports of call world wide.
Celebrity Cruise lines have a fleet of 9 cruise ships. Two offer
contemporary styling, three offer high tech comfort and the other four are
in their newest class.
Norwegian cruise line offers an array of itineraries to many destinations
world wide. Operating 10 ships, with one more scheduled for 2005.
Costa Cruises operates a fleet of 10 cruise ships. At the end of 2004, this
cruise line will add another ship to its fleet.
Crystal Cruises operates a fleet of three luxury ships sailing many
itineraries including a trans-ocean cruises. This cruise lines has won
awards in the medium cruise ship category.
The Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of sea and land/sea packages. From
three to fourteen nights, Disney does things up like only Disney can!
Cunard Cruise Lines have a relatively small fleet of luxury cruise ships.
Two of these are perhaps the most well known cruise ships in the world - The
Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mary II.
There are a number of specialty cruise lines as well. These offer special
itineraries or special cruise ships.
Like Crystal, Radisson Seven Seas Cruises offers luxury and intimate
cruising. And of course The Yachts of Seabourne are perhaps one of the most
celebrated cruise lines having consistently won awards. They too offer
uncompromising luxury aboard intimate ships.
There are cruise lines dedicated to ecological excursions. Some cruise lines
offer special wildlife site-seeing. Still others offer adventure tours to
the Arctic and Antarctic or up the Amazon River.
Some cruise lines dedicate themselves to river cruises - some in Europe,
some in Africa, Asia or the Americas. Still other cruise lines offer dinner
cruises, or harbor cruises, or sunset cruises, or steamboat cruises.
And then there are the cruise lines that sail the magnificent tall ships.
Windstar Cruises operates three luxury sail-cruise ships in the Caribbean,
Europe and Polynesia. Sea cloud cruises operates a three-masted sailing
ship. Star Clippers operates tall ships in the Caribbean, the Mediterranean
and the Far East.
