NCL announces Norwegian Jewel as the name of their brand new Cruise
Ship!
NCL's Norwegian Jewel cruise ship
Norwegian Cruise Lines announced in June of 2004 the name
of the newest gem in their fleet. Norwegian Jewel is expected to launch in
August of 2005. The fourth ship in NCL's fleet to be purpose built for
"Freestyle Cruising", Norwegian Jewel is planned for two of the industry's
biggest cruise markets - the Caribbean and Alaska.
The 92,000 ton Norwegian Jewel will feature ten restaurants, two Garden
Villas, and a brand new style of accommodations - the addition of ten
Courtyard Villas with a private shared private courtyard and sundeck on deck
14. Both types of Villas will have use of a concierge lounge and have
dedicated butlers to offer continental breakfast, daily refreshments and
canape's and drinks before dinner.
Being a sister ship to the Norwegian Star and Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian
Jewel is the next stage in NCL's rejuvenation. Out of the eleven cruise
ships the cruise line will be offering in 2005, seven will be newer ships
offering about 70% of their passengers a sailing experience aboard
state-of-the-art vessels.
After a series of inaugural events and a 14 night Mediterranean cruise,
Norwegian Jewel will be taking a transatlantic crossing out of London. In
the late summer of 2005, she will begin her Caribbean season of seven-day
Eastern and Exotic Western Caribbean cruises. Then in the spring of 2006 she
will begin her Alaskan cruise itineraries.
Dazzling Dining Options aboard Norwegian Jewel!
Like her sister ships, Norwegian Jewel will have ten
restaurants including their guests' favorites of Cagney's Steak House, Blue
Lagoon, and NCL's signature restaurant Le Bistro. Norwegian Jewel will also
feature:
· Tango's - a contemporary restaurant decorated in brightly colored tiles to
compliment the spicy Latin/Tapas fare.
· Chin Chin - an Asian restaurant having décor inspired by the traditional
female costumes and dance of the Far East.
· Tsar's Palace - a main restaurant whose décor is inspired by the grandeur
of the palaces of St Petersburg and the era of the Russian Tsar's.
· Azura - a main restaurant with modern boutique hotel inspired décor. Blues
and purples are accented with orange in this pop art style atmosphere.
· Mama's Italian Kitchen - an Italian restaurant resembling a
Trattoria, with a long wooden table running down the middle of the room
creating a farmhouse kitchen effect.
NCL has included another new concept on Norwegian Jewel. The "Bar Central"
feature includes Shakers Martini and Cocktail Bar, Magnum's Champagne and
Wine Bar, and Maltings Beer and Whiskey Pub all connected but with three
distinct "personalities". In addition to theses bars, the ship includes the
Sky High Bar and the "Fyzz" Cabaret Lounge.
Accommodation aboard Norwegian Jewel!
Norwegian Jewel will have a capacity of about 2,400
guests with more than 1,000 crew members. She will offer an extensive choice
in accommodations including the ten penthouse suites mentioned earlier.
These suites will offer amenities usually found only at five-star land-based
resorts. The ship also feature the Newest NCL standard in cabins including
rich cherry wood finishing, refrigerators, coffee makers in every room and
larger washrooms than other cruise ships.

The contemporary South Pacific themed Bora Bora Health
Spa and Beauty Salon features the latest in fitness and relaxation. This
marvelous facility will be operated by Mandara Spa, the world's leading
landside resort spas operator. The Body Waves Fitness Center will offer
state-of-the-art cardiovascular workout equipment.
For families, Norwegian Jewel will feature Splashdown Kid's Club. Along with
Sapphire Kid's Pool and the Underground Teen's Club, there will surely be
enough to amuse and entertain the younger guests.
